Platinum engraved engagement rings keep every line of the engraving crisp and white. Platinum is naturally white, so there is no rhodium plating to wear through and no yellow undertone to creep in around the scrollwork; it is hypoallergenic for nickel-sensitive skin; and it is denser than gold, so the same design weighs noticeably more on the hand. When platinum scratches, the metal is pushed aside rather than worn away, which is why engraving on platinum keeps its depth for decades.
Five engraved designs in platinum
Every design in our engraved collection is made in platinum. The Engraved Three Stone ($2,300) frames the center stone with two side stones and continues the engraving down the shank; the Heirloom Cathedral ($2,600) adds a detailed gallery under the stone; the Engraved Tulip ($2,650) lifts the diamond in petal-shaped prongs above an engraved band; the Vintage Inspired band ($2,750) carries our most detailed engraving; and the Engraved Cathedral ($2,800) pairs scroll engraving along the shoulders with a raised cathedral head. The cathedral and vintage designs come in round, oval, emerald, cushion, radiant, pear, marquise, moval and Dutch marquise; the tulip is cut for oval, marquise and moval, and the three stone for oval and marquise. Prices are the platinum setting before the diamond, $450 to $600 more than the same design in 14k gold.
Platinum or white gold for an engraved ring
White gold gives the same look for less and is lighter to wear, but it needs re-plating to stay white; platinum costs more up front and needs no plating. Our platinum vs white gold guide works through the trade-off, and the full platinum collection shows every setting we make in it. For the designs themselves, see our engraved engagement rings guide.
Every ring is made to order around a lab-grown diamond you choose, graded by IGI or GIA, and ships free in the US with 30-day returns, one complimentary resize within 100 days and a lifetime manufacturing warranty.
